As part of our Florida Firearms Appraisal work, we are often asked about the specific value of a firearm – most divorce cases involve a used Glock, always seems to be the case, don’t ask me why.
For this hypothetical, the valuation of a 3 year old Glock 19 would involve the following:
The value of your 3-year-old Glock 19 depends on several factors, including its condition, generation, included accessories, and the local market demand. Here’s a general guide:
1. Base Value (Used Market as of today November 2024):
• Excellent Condition: $400–$500
• Good Condition: $350–$450
• Fair Condition: $300–$400
2. Factors That Affect Value:
• Generation: The Glock 19 has multiple generations (Gen 3, 4, 5). Gen 5 models typically fetch higher prices due to updated features like improved ergonomics and trigger.
• Accessories: Items like night sights, extra magazines, optics, or a carry case can add $50–$200 to the value. Basically, the more accessories included the value should always increase.
• Finish & Wear: Visible wear or scratches can decrease the price. A Glock with minimal use (often called “like new”) will retain more value. Unfortunately, this is generally the most variable factor and can only be determined by physically examining the gun – a hands on evaluation is necessary.
• Aftermarket Modifications: Customizations like upgraded triggers, barrels, or stippling can increase value to the right buyer but may reduce it for others.
• Market Location: Prices vary depending on your local gun laws and demand. For example, states with stricter gun laws may see higher used gun prices.
As you can see the valuation process can be difficult as more of an art than a science. The good news – we can help with your Florida Firearms Appraisal, contact us today!
